The body of Singaporean tour guide Muhammad Danish Amran, 22, who died in the earthquake in Ranau last Friday, was claimed by his family today.
His remains, which were brought to the Forensics Department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (HQE) here for a post-mortem, was claimed by his father.
According to a close friend of the father, Syamsuddin Yusuf, 56, the family was informed that Danish had died in the disaster and that his body was taken to HQE at 10pm on Saturday.
He said Danish's father arrived at the hospital at about 12.30pm today for the process of identifying the body and documentation.
Syamsuddin told Bernama the victim's body was flown to Singapore at 9pm and will be buried tomorrow.
"His father wants the victim's siblings who are overseas to view his body before it is buried," he said.
However, Syamsuddin said it was not known where his body will be buried.
Meanwhile, checks by Bernama found that as of 8.19pm, all nine bodies of the Singaporeans who died in the earthquake, including that of Peony Wee Ying Ping, 12, a student of the Tanjong Katong Primary School (TKPS), Singapore, had been claimed and sent home by the Republic of Singapore Air Force today.
The body of Sabahan Valerian Joannes, 27, a tour guide and teacher from TKPS, was claimed by his family this afternoon and taken back to his village Bundu Tuhan, Ranau for burial tomorrow.
