Saiful Apek, 3 others acquitted of misusing drugs

The Magistrate's Court here Monday acquitted and discharge local actor and comedian Saiful Apek and three others of misusing drugs three years ago.

Magistrate Ahmad Solihin Abd Wahid ruled that the defence had succeeded in denting the prosecution's case against Saiful Apek whose real name is Mohd Saifulazam Mohamed Yusoff, Shah Zainatull Ehsan Al-Muazam Shah Yahya, 30, Shaiful Baharom, 26, and Noremy Mohamad, 30.

Last May 22, the Shah Alam High Court ordered Saiful Apek, 44, and the three who worked for his production company, Gitu-Gitu Productions, to enter their defence after allowing the prosecution's appeal against the Petaling Jaya Magistrate's Court's decision on June 25 last year to acquit them of the charge.

The four were accused of committing the offence at the Narcotics Criminal Investigation office, Subang Jaya police headquarters at Jalan LP 2A/1, Taman Putra Permai, Seri Kembangan, Petaling Jaya at 11 pm on June 12, 2010.

Deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Ishrakh Saad when met outside the court, told the media that the prosecution would file an appeal against the decision.
