A businessman who had a beef with two men over the sale of cows allegedly rammed them with his car, leaving one dead and the other seriously injured in Permasuri here Thursday.
Rohadi Yaacob, 44, died on the way to the Setiu Hospital while Zakaria Taib, 43, sustained critical head and body injuries in the 6pm incident which occurred in Kampung Jelapang.
Zakaria has been warded at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital in Kuala Terengganu.
Earlier, Rohadi and Zakaria had a misunderstanding with a man at a coffee shop before leaving the premises in two motorcycles, accompanied by a friend.
A short distance later, a man driving a car allegedly rammed into the duo, killing Rohadi and seriously injuring Zakaria.
Setiu police chief, DSP Ab Rahman Raja Mohamad said more than two hours after the incident, the police detained a 40-year-old suspect to facilitate investigations into the killing and causing serious injury.
He said the suspect, who was self-employed, was picked up by a police team about 8.30pm.
The man's car which was used to allegedly ram into the two victims was also seized.
