Let the police conduct a prior investigation into any matter.

That was the view shared by former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Musa Hassan when contacted by Astro AWANI to comment the action taken by Solidarity Anak Muda Malaysia (SAMM) who lodged police reports against former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

"Anyone can make a police report, but the police will first examine the content of the report. Let the police do their job," said Musa.

According to him, there are several procedures that must be followed and the speed of the action taken depends on the content of the report itself.

“If you talk about the Sedition Act, there are still certain exceptions. So, the police will first evaluate whether it is included in the exemption.

"The police will investigate the motive of the report - if it is as alleged or whether it is just seeking clarification,” said Musa.

SAMM on Wednesday launched a series of police reports against Tun Mahathir for alleged sedition.

SAMM Pahang and Selangor had lodged the police report in the morning while SAMM Penang made the police report in the evening.
