Malaysia's Special Envoy to India and South Asia Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu heads the list of 283 recipients of awards in conjunction with the Federal Territory Day today.
He will be bestowed the Darjah Seri Utama Mahkota Wilayah (SUMW) which carries the title Datuk Seri Utama.
Two others, who will receive the award, are Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Tan Sri Cheng Heng Jem, and Felda chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar, who was conferred the SUMW award last year but could not attend the investiture ceremony, will receive the award this time around.
Eight people will receive the Darjah Seri Mahkota Wilayah (SMW) which carries the title Datuk Seri.
They are the Prime Minister's Department Implementation and Coordination Unit director-general Datuk Seri Shukry Mohd Salleh, Transport Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Long See Wool, Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Ahmad Phesal Talib, and former Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Ruslin Hasan.
The others are Special Officer to the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Siti Azizah Sheikh Abod, Tenaga Nasional Berhad president and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Ir Azman Mohd, Weststar Group of Companies executive director Datuk Seri Syed Azlan Syed Ibrahim, Federal Territories Umno Liaison Committee secretary Datuk Seri Syed Ali Alhabshee.
Forty-one people will be conferred the Panglima Mahkota Wilayah (PMW) award which carries the title Datuk.
They are Housing and Local Government Ministry deputy secretary-general (management) Datuk Noriah Hashim, Prime Minister's Department division secretary (Cabinet, Constitution and Inter-Government Relation Division) Datuk Zaini Arshad, Women, Family and Community Development Ministry deputy
secretary-general (strategic) Datuk Harjeet Singh Hardev Singh The others are Information, Communications and Culture Ministry deputy secretary-general (communications) Datuk Che Azemi Haron, Public Service Department director (Pension Division) Datuk Raja Noor Zaedah Raja Ahmad, Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit deputy director-general Datuk Dr Mazlan Yusoff, Kuala Lumpur City Hall deputy director-general (project implementation and maintenance) Datuk Mohd Najib Mohd.
Other recipients are Prime Minister's Department deputy secretary-general (development and finance) Datuk Hasnah Saleh, Education Ministry deputy secretary-general (development) Datuk Abd Shukor Ibrahim, MATRADE chief executive Datuk Dr Wong Lai Sum, Special Officer to the Deputy Prime Minister
Datuk Dr Marzuki Mohamad, oral and maxillofacial surgery senior consultant Datuk Dr Mohd Noor Awang.
Also being bestowed the award are Pantai Holdings Berhad chairman Datuk Khairil Anuar Abdullah, Asnur Sdn Bhd chairman Datuk Abu Samah Bachik, Engen Limited managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Ahmad Nizam Salleh, Sutra Dance Theatre (M) Sdn Bhd director Datuk Ramli Ibrahim, DMIA (M) Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk S.Subramaniam Pillai, British American Tobacco (M) Berhad managing director Datuk Toh Ah Wah.

Other recipients are Federation of Residents' Associations chairman Datuk Yusri Ahmad, Real Estate and Housing Developers' Association (REHDA) national treasurer Datuk Tong Nguen Khoong, Sihat 1 Malaysia ambassador Datuk Aznil Nawawi, Labuan Corporation director Datuk Sulaiman Ibrahim, and Malayan Banking Berhad deputy president and head of community financial servicesDatuk Lim Hong Tat.
Twenty-eight people will receive the Johan Mahkota Wilayah (JMW), 45 Kesatria Mahkota Wilayah (KMW), 73 Ahli Mahkota Wilayah (AMW), and 85 Pingat Pangkuan Mahkota Wilayah (PPW).
Among AMW recipients are New Straits Times senior editor (Streets) Chan Cheng Tuan, The China Press Berhad central desk head Chat Mee Eang, Tamil Nesan Sdn Bhd editor-in-chief K.Padmanabhan, Penerbitan Sahabat (M) Sdn Bhd editor-in-chief M.Maryanandy, Makkal Osai Sdn Bhd editor-in-chief M.Rajintheram, and Harian Metro chief news editor Tuan Mohamad Asri Tuan Hussein.
PPW recipients included New Sabah Times journalist Jainudin Djimin and Sinar Harian journalist Nur Hidayah Hairom.
