The search and rescue operation for one more person reported missing in a boat mishap at sea near here on Thursday was suspended at 7pm today but will continue tomorrow.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul when contacted by Bernama said the operation will be continued tomorrow morning.
Earlier today another body was found, raising to six the number of people drowned.
The body of A. Parianathan, 30, was found at 11.45am along the shore behind the General Operations Force camp in Bagan Pasir here, said the Selangor Fire and Rescue department.
Five others who drowned were M. Kunasegaran, 57; A. Muniamah, 49; K. Logaraj, 29; M. Gnaswdree, 59; and G. Jaya Sangari, 27.
Seven others were rescued by fishermen soon after the boat sank near a buoy about two nautical miles off the Bagan Sungai Kajang beach during a ritual to sprinkle the ashes of a dead relative in the sea.
Those rescued were identified as P. Alumalai; M. Sugamaran; V. Nagaswari; N. Sanmugan; C. Sabtayan; C. Sundraja and S. Partiven.
A boat carrying 14 people, nine of them family members and five boatmen, had set out from the Sungai Kajang fishermen's jetty at about 3 pm on Thursday for the sprinkling of a dead relative's ashes in the sea.
It sprang a leak and sank while returning to shore about two hours later, after the ritual.
