The state crime index statistics have dipped 7.86 per cent since January, as compared to the corresponding period last year, said Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Acryl Sani Abdullah.
He said, during that period this year, 9,456 cases were recorded. Last year, there were 10,263 cases.
"The decrease by 807 cases is an achievement (for the Sarawak police) but our main challenge is to maintain this crime drop and excel in management and administration," he said at the state police contingent's monthly assembly here today.
The police chief also noted that there was a decline in the number of disciplinary cases involving policemen this year, as compared to the same period last year.
He said 128 cases were reported, so far this year, while 202 were recorded in 2011.
