Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem wants more five-star hotels to operate in the state to further boost tourism.
"The Sarawak tourism industry will expand as more visitors arrive," he said when opening the 328-room Pullman Miri Waterfront Hotel, here Saturday.
He said hoteliers should take the opportunity to open more five-star hotels in towns as Bintulu and proposed that Pullman take the lead if Pullman Miri Waterfront and Pullman Hotel Kuching register positive growth.
Pullman Miri Waterfront Hotel is a new landmark for Miri City and expected to draw more visitors, especially from neighbouring Brunei.
Pullman Miri Waterfront Hotel is the largest in Sarawak and the fourth in the country after Putrajaya, Bangsar and Kuching.
The 24-storey hotel started operation last year. - BERNAMA
