ROSLAN: Police will not put up any obstacles, simultaneously allowing the gathering, subject to several conditions.
Kuching Police will allow the Bersih 4.0 gathering at Padang Song Kheng Hai on Saturday and Sunday but reminded the organisers to comply with the stipulated conditions, including not having any procession.
Kuching District Police chief ACP Roslan Bek Ahmad said police had received a copy of the letter from the Kuching Selatan City Hall, addressed to the organiser, Nicholas anak Anson, giving permission for the gathering to be held in the area.
"Following the approval, police will not put up any obstacles, simultaneously allowing the gathering, subject to several conditions," he said via WhatsApp to the media here, today.
He said among the conditions in the list, which was handed to the organisers on Aug 20, was that the gathering must be static, namely, no processions and, no children were allowed to participate.
He said the organisers must also control the behaviour of the participants so that they would not flout the rules and the law, and to obey the instructions of the police to ensure the smoothness of the gathering, and to ensure anything that could threaten public and national security, would not take place.
Roslan also said the participants must park their vehicles at the designated locations and ensure they do not obstruct traffic during the gathering.
