Among the articles reportedly withdrawn by hackers are those on the chairman of Abu Dhabi's Aabar Fund, Khadem al-Qubaisi who is said to receive US$20 million from the Good Star Limited.
News portal Sarawak Report claimed that they were attacked by professional hackers on March 23, when several articles reportedly disappeared from the page.
The hacking attempts was said to begin at 10.37am. One of the articles on the portal reportedly went missing from the site half an hour later.
"Hackers are so meticulous when they hide and change their IP (Internet Protocol) address as an attempt to hide their location.
"Both IPs were linked to proxy servers and they disguised themselves as coming from Google – a fairly easy trick, according to web experts," Sarawak Report had said on Sunday.
Among the articles reportedly withdrawn by hackers are those on the chairman of Abu Dhabi's Aabar Fund, Khadem al-Qubaisi who is said to receive US$20 million from the Good Star Limited.
Sarawak Report had alleged Good Star Limited was the company identified as the recipient of the "secret" USD$700 million "loan repayment", made supposedly to PetroSaudi International from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
Sarawak Report has previously published a series of articles on the supposed money trail of the troubled 1MDB.
The reports had mentioned and published images of suspected personalities behind the "mystery" of the loss of funds.
Sarawak Report last Sunday had also reported facing suspension after "undisclosed individuals" bought a copyright image Malaysian tycoon Jho Low partying with some celebrities, including Paris Hilton.
"This non-existent agency has used threatening and legalistic language, demanding we remove the pictures, which have been circulated on the web by various other online magazines since 2010, because they say they have the copyright.
"Given that the articles and photos are tied to huge spending by certain individuals; those who are said to be involved in the loss of billions of ringgit which are supposed to benefit the poor and undeveloped areas in Malaysia, we believed that it was a matter of public interest for these photos to be published," the Sarawak Report had said.
