KUCHING: The Sarawak Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development has launched the 'SUKMA XXI' app, designed to provide real-time updates and information on the 2024 Malaysia Games (SUKMA).
Its minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the app features a comprehensive menu, including schedules, competition results and the latest medal standings for each contingent.
"Users can also stay informed with the latest news and access video content or live streaming through the integrated TVS (TV Sarawak) link.
"The development of this app is in line with the Sarawak Premier's (Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg) vision to strengthen our services through the digital economy," he told a press conference following the launch of the app here today.
In addition, Abdul Karim, who also serves as State Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, said the app provides information on tourist attractions across all divisions in Sarawak, which can be explored during SUKMA 2024.
He said the app is now available for download on the Apple Store, Google Play Store and Huawei App Gallery, supporting iOS, Android and Huawei platforms.
Abdul Karim assured that the ministry would ensure the app's seamless operation, providing users with an uninterrupted experience.
Meanwhile, the minister also officiated the SUKMA 2024 Command Centre, which will remain operational until the conclusion of Para SUKMA 2024 in September.
"The Command Centre will operate from today until September 28, supporting the SUKMA Secretariat in overseeing the progress of SUKMA and Para SUKMA, while managing any issues that may arise across 50 competition venues in nine divisions of Sarawak during the event.
"At the same time, the centre will monitor all logistics, including accommodation, transportation, catering and volunteer coordination through the Games Management System," he added.
SUKMA 2024 will feature 37 sports, with 488 events comprising 236 men's events, 217 women's events and 35 mixed events. The games will be held across nine divisions: Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Sri Aman, Betong, Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu and Miri.
Since its inception in 1986, SUKMA has been hosted in Sarawak twice, in 1990 and 2016.
