School boy used Raya money to become 'mat rempit'

A 14-year old boy, who is said to have used his Raya money to buy a motorcycle, was among 121 traffic offenders arrested in Ops Samseng Jalanan at Lebuhraya Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu, Bayan Lepas, near here, early today.
The form two student from Balik Pulau, here, who claimed to have purchased the Honda EX5 for the purpose of illegal racing, bought the bike from his cousin with a deposit of RM200.
Barat Daya Deputy police chief, DSP Siti Nor Salawati Saad said apart from him, 14 others arrested were under 18 years old with three still schooling, while the remaining arrested were aged 18 to 27, including two women.
A total of 52 motorcycles were seized and 50 summonses were issued for various offences during the operation which began at 2am until 6am, with four officers and 45 police personnels, involved.
She added that focus was given at several locations around Bayan Baru and Pantai Seagate based on the surveillance done by the police personnel to trace the normal routes used by the 'mat rempit'.
