A Form One girl lost both her legs after being ran over by a lorry in a hit-and-run accident at Parit 16, Sungai Panjang here yesterday.
Sabak Bernam police chief Supt Nor Azmi Isa said the girl, Siti Nuraisyah Sahrin, and her stepsister, Shamin Amirah Roslan, 14, were on a motorcycle heading home when the mishap occurred at 3 pm.
"A Perodua Kancil car was believed to have overtaken them and rubbed against their machine, causing them to be thrown onto the road.
"Siti Nuraisyah fell right in the middle of the road and before she knew it a lorry from the opposite direction ran over her legs, while her stepsister only sustained a sprained ankle," he told Bernama when contacted here.
Nor Azmi said Siti Nuraisyah was rushed to Tengku Ampuan Jemaaah Hospital in Sabak Bernam before being transferred to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang for further treatment.
He also called on both the Perodua Kancil and the lorry drivers, who sped off the scene, to come forward or contact the Sabak Bernam traffic police branch at 03-32242613 to facilitate further investigation into the case.
