The 11-year old female student of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Miri who was reported missing yesterday was not abducted, said the police.
Miri Police Chief ACP Junaidi Bujang said the girl was reported missing by her 27-year-old brother after family members became worried when she did not return home after school.
"The girl, who is the youngest in the family, was not abducted, but she was taken home by her own family member, who is her brother-in-law," he told Bernama here today.
News on the missing girl sparked fear, especially among parents, after relatives posted her picture on Facebook and the social media urging the public to give information on her whereabouts.
