Schools in KL and Selangor to be closed on Monday
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has instructed all schools in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor to be closed tomorrow.
Natural Resources and Environmental Minister Datuk Seri G. Palanivel said this is in view of the worsening haze in the area.
"As advised by the Prime Minister, all schools in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor will be closed tomorrow (Monday).
"I will ask second education minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh to take the necessary action," he said.
Palanivel said the haze situation was worsening as of 5pm and the schools have ordered to be closed as a precautionary measure since the bad air quality would affect the health of the students.
He advised parents to keep their children indoors and if they need to go out to use face masks.
Meanwhile, schools in Kuantan, Melacca and part of Johor were also ordered to close due to the worsening air quality.
