Schools in Muar close temporarily
State education director Mohd Nor A. Ghani has directed for all 200 schools in the Muar district to be temporarily close from the afternoon session the after the air pollutant index (API) reading had touched 337 (as at 7am).
A directive had been issued for schools to close if the reading surpassed 300.

Classes for the the morning session resumed as he didn’t want any students to be left unattended and leaving school without their parents. However, no outdoor activities were held.

According to the Deparment of Environment website, other areas which have recorded high API readings at 11am include Kota Tinggi (232), Pasir Gudang (199) and Larkin Lama (181).
