Science and business communities need to talk

The two-way communication between the scientific and business communities must be enhanced to ensure competitiveness of the Malaysian green technology industry in the global market.
Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) deputy secretary-general, Datuk Dr Sharifah Zarah Syed Ahmad, said at a time of economic uncertaintly, the scientists and technologists should reach out to the business community.
"They should bring the innovations to the marketplace to enhance their productivity while listening to the aspirations and needs of the business community," she said here today.
Sharifah said this at the Fourth Technopreneurship & Innovation Symposium and Exhibition (TISE) 2012 here today.
She said the instrumental role played by the Technology Park Malaysia, an agency under MOSTI, has made tremendous impact in the development of science, technology and innovation in the country.
"I am confident its continued initiatives in encouraging and providing the necessary assistance to inspire and nurture technoprenuership development remains pertinent for Malaysia to achieve greater heights in the global arena," she said.
Sharifah said the technology park should be applauded for reaching out to the private sector and the learned societies in science and technology and the universities.
"This framework of Malaysian Inc will contribute to a user-friendly and down-to-earth scientific community," she said.
The two-day exhibition is co-organised by Technology Park Malaysia Corp, IEM Training centre, Malaysian Institute of Chemistry and MCA Innovation Resources Centre.
