KUALA LUMPUR: The Selangor Smart City & Digital Economy Convention (SDEC) 2024 is set to play a major role in advancing Malaysia’s digital transformation, taking place from 16th to 19th October 2024 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC).
Organised by the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec), in conjunction of Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS), this event is a 3 in 1 conference brings together key players from industries such as semiconductors, AI, and SME digitalisation to drive the nation's digital economy forward.

“This event showcases the convergence of semiconductor, AI, and e-commerce innovations.
"Sidec has been actively supporting Malaysia’s digital ecosystem by partnering with Affin Bank, TikTok Shop, and Pos Malaysia, among others.
"One of the most significant developments highlighted at SDEC 2024 is Malaysia’s growing role in the global semiconductor supply chain, thanks to the recent launch of the Malaysia Semiconductor IC Design Park," he said.
Yong said that the initiative has already attracted international tech giants such as Phison, Chipsbank, and Weeroc, who are keen to establish a presence in the country.
The convention also features the TikTok SME Digitalisation Summit, which aims to help SMEs grow their businesses by using TikTok’s vast platform.
“SMEs can benefit from TikTok’s user base and viral marketing tools to increase visibility and sales,” Yong explained in an interview with Niaga AWANI on Friday.
Beyond e-commerce, AI-driven innovations will also take center stage at SDEC 2024.
“On the second day, experts will discuss how AI and semiconductor technologies are transforming industries like healthcare and smart mobility.
“Startups will also have their moment through the Selangor Accelerator Programme (SAP), where 20 startups will showcase their ideas to potential investors and industry leaders,” he added.
The event will feature international exhibitors like AWS and TikTok Shop, alongside local companies showcasing the latest in smart city development and digital technology.
As Malaysia accelerates its push toward becoming a digital economy leader, SDEC 2024 will provide a vital platform for collaboration, innovation, and growth, ensuring the nation remains competitive on the global stage.
