Perak police will be deploying 450 policemen and officers for the Kuala Lumpur 2017 SEA Games this month.

State police chief Datuk Hasnan Hassan said the police personnel - comprising those from the Criminal Investigation Department, Internal Security and Public Order, traffic police and general duties - would ensure safety throughout the duration of the games.

"We will add the numbers of policemen and officers at any time to complement the existing number of security forces personnel (assigned to be on duty), if necessary," he told reporters after attending the state-level Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Green Day celebration in Jalan Padang Tembak here today.

Meanwhile, Hasnan said the state police contingent had saved RM814,330 in cost through the PDRM Green Practices and Green Application Technology initiative last year.

"The Perak police contingent have taken a proactive initiative and played a role in its bid to reduce fuel consumption such as petrol and diesel without interrupting daily operations and tasks.

"In addition, we have also used environmental-friendly copier machines as well as recycled papers and toilet papers at the administrative office to prevent wastage and to conserve the environment," he said.
