The search for missing Malaysian hiker Ramli Abdul Majid on Mount Damavand in Iran was halted due to bad weather.
Expedition leader Rozaimi Mohd Said said the search and rescue team had not mentioned how long the operations will be suspended, only that efforts will continue once the weather clears up.
"It can also be carried out without having to wait for the next change of season," Rozaimi said via WhatsApp.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry confirmed that the remains found by Iran’s Search and Rescue Team on Monday was that of the other missing hiker Syed Redzuan Syed Salim Shatri.
The remains were sent to Amol mortuary in Mazandaran province and will be transferred to Tehran.
The Embassy of Malaysia in Tehran is assisting the transfer and repatriation of the remains and together with the hiker’s family members, will travel to Amol to expedite the process of confirmation and facilitate necessary arrangements with the relevant Iranian authorities.
