Second suspect in bomb explosion turns himself in

The second suspect in a bomb explosion incident which killed a primary a school clerk in Taman Seri Periuk, Kampung Periuk, Tumpat, last Sunday, turned himself in at the Tumpat Police Headquarters
here today.
Kelantan Deputy Police Chief Datuk Mazlan Lazim said the 28-year-old man who came in at 10.15am was a neighbour to the victim's in-laws and was acquainted with the family.
"The suspect will be remanded for a week and the motive of the murder is believed to be jealousy and revenge," he told reporters at the Kelantan Contingent Police Headquarters, here today.
In the 11am incident last Sunday, the victim who worked at Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Manek Urai, Kuala Krai, Mohd Yusrizal Mat Zain, 32, died from the blast after he picked up a parcel left on top of a multi-purpose vehicle parked at his in-laws' house in Taman Seri Periuk.
Last Wednesday, a 29-year-old soldier was remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations into the case. Mazlan said police believe that they will solve the case with the arrest of the second suspect and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
Meanwhile, Mazlan said police have crippled a drug trafficking syndicate which was active in selling methamphetamine in Kota Baharu and Pasir Mas.
"During a 2.50am raid today, police detained a couple in a house in Kampung Gaung Belukar Pendek here," he said.
He said police confiscated 2,440 pills believed to be methamphetamine and 10 plastic packets of methamphetamine which were wet, with an estimated market value of RM150,000.
"We also seized RM11,300 in cash, a Rado watch, a bracelet and two cars," he added.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
