Security forces are 'mopping up' battleground
Security forces are presently ‘mopping up’ the crisis zone area at Kampung Tanduo in Lahad Datu after the ‘offensive’ raids including airstrike by the Royal Malaysian Air Force fighter jets.
Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Ismail Omar and Chief of Malaysian Armed Forces Gen Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zain in joint press conference today stated since the integrated operation conducted at the battleground area about 7am this morning, no casualties were recorded on the Malaysian side.
“There are still resistance firefighting by the gunmen and the area has been totally sealed off by security forces. Public is urged to obey the order and not enter the area,” said Ismail.
During the firefight, security forces was given great resistance by the gunmen.
Police also advised public to not spreading any rumours on the losses of life during the battle as the fight is still on-going.
