Selangor BN disputes state govt for ignoring transporation system in rural areas

Selangor Barisan Nasional (BN) state assemblymen today disputed the 2016 Budget tabled by the Selangor state government which seems to have ignored public transport services in rural areas.

Selangor BN assemblymen coordinator Mat Nadzari Ahmad Dahlan said the state government's efforts to provide free bus services seemed to focus on urban areas.

"Such facility should be provided across the state, especially in rural areas which do not have an efficient transportation system.

"I would like to invite the menteri besar (Mohamed Azmin Ali) to come to my constituency in Bukit Beruntung, Bukit Sentosa and Batang Kali to see the transportation system, such as buses, which are still at an unsatisfactory level," he told reporters at the lobby of the state assembly building, here today.

Mohamed Azmin when tabling Budget 2016 last Friday announced that the state government would extend the 'Smart Selangor' bus service to areas under the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council and the Kajang municipal council with an additional allocation of RM10 million.

Previously, RM3.5 million had been spent into the free bus service in areas under the Shah Alam City Council, the Subang Jaya Municipal Council and the Klang Municipal Council.

Earlier, when debating the Supply Bill 2016 in the state assembly, Mat Nadzari who is also Batang Kali assemblyman said the menteri besar should seek solutions to the public transportation problems not only in urban but also in rural areas.

"The level of public bus services in rural areas is very bad. Therefore I ask the Menteri Besar to go down to the ground and see how he can help improve the transportation systems in rural areas," he said.
