Selangor govt to host Chinese New Year celebration on Feb 24

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor government, in collaboration with Invest Selangor Bhd, will hold the state-level Chinese New Year celebration on Feb 24 at IOI City Mall, Sepang, aimed to strengthen the relationship between leaders and the community.
State Investment, Trade and Mobility Committee chairman Ng Sze Han said that the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin consented to attend the gathering.
The royal family of Selangor will also attend the celebration.
Also scheduled to attend the gathering are Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, members of the state assembly, heads of departments, representatives of foreign embassies and the people of Selangor, with an expected attendance of around 15,000 people, from 10 am to 6 pm.
"The celebration will feature various cultural performances such as a combination of various types of traditional Malaysian dances such as dragon and lion dances, gamelan, drums and orchestra which symbolise parts of the country's heritage and culture," he said in a press conference today.
Themed 'Perayaan Muafakat', Ng said the tradition of giving out 'angpow' to children age 12 and below, distributing mandarin oranges as well as interesting workshops and activities will also be held to enliven the event.
He said that guests will also be entertained by five main performances involving local art director, Anthony Meh who will lead the Dua Space Dance Theatre group in organising and choreographing the performances.
Members of the public planning to attend the celebration can use the Selangor Mobility DRT (Demand-Responsive Transit) vans which will ferry passengers from 60 locations around Serdang to IOI City Mall with a charge as low as RM2.
The Trek App application can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store to obtain the schedule of locations and operating hours of Selangor Mobility DRT vans.
