Selangor to study written judgement on former MBI employee compensation

Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the lawyer representing the state government would study the judgement to see if there was a need to appeal against the decision.

Mohamed Azmin was speaking to reporters here today.

Yesterday, Shah Alam High Court rejected claims by MBI, a subsidiary of the Selangor state government filed on May 11 2015 to demand the return of RM2.7 million compensation paid under a voluntary separation scheme (VSS) in 2014.

The court decided that the compensation payment was valid and was made according to regulations based on MBI Enactment 1994.

The seven employees involved were former MBI chief executive officer Faekah Hussin, Rohani Talib, Arfa'eza Abdul Aziz, Mustapha Mohd Talib, Rahimah Kamarudin, Abdul Halim Mohamed Yusof as well as Tuan Nazuri Tuan Ismail.

The suit against another former MBI officer who also received compensation had not proceeded after the employee obtained leave from the court under the Bankruptcy Act 1967.

The group received compensations when their contracts were terminated after Abdul Khalid was forced to resign as Menteri Besar in September 2014.

On Jan 16 2015, Mohamed Azmin directed all eight former officers to return all the compensation received under Abdul Khalid's administration for allegedly infringing financial rules and regulations.

The ex-officers reportedly received compensations of between RM114,870 to RM699,000 each.

On May 11 2015, MBI filed a suit against the eight former employees when they allegedly failed to return the compensation payment.
