Sultan Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah expressed disappointment that political ceramah are still being held in mosques in the state.
Sultan Sharafuddin, who received reports about 26 mosques and surau which did not heed the directive of the Selangor Islamic Religious department (Jais) which banned political ceramah in mosques and surau, expressed regret over the matter.
"I received reports that 26 mosques and surau still allow politically-laced ceramah to be held.
"I know the names of the mosques and surau and its committee members and I truly regret and unhappy that they are still allowing such ceramah to go on," he said when opening the Tengku Ampuan Jemaah Mosque in Bukit Jelutong, here, Saturday night.
The Sultan of Selangor also banned Muslims from using mosques and surau as as places for politics to avoid disunity among Muslims.
