Self-proclaimed 'Sultan Malacca' released

Businessmen, 57-years-old, Noor Jan Tuah, who claims to be a 'Sultan Malacca' was released on police bail today, after being remanded for seven days Noor Jan was released after the police requested the court to prevent any sultanate gathering to take place in the state. Noor Jan was seen leaving the Bukit Beruang Police Contingent Headquarters after his lawyer Surjan Singh Sidhu and some other individuals arrived at the headquarters half an hour earlier before his release. State deputy CPO Datuk Shah Gzali Khan Shahadat said Noor Jan was not charged because the investigation process has not completed. Meanwhile, the Malacca president office received a letter from the Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, Netherlands in September saying the recognition certificates of Noor Jan as the Malacca Sultanate's heirs is false and that he is a liar. The attorney general’s department will be assisting further investigation on this issue and lawyer, Surjan said his client will be called back to assist the investigation. Noor Jan was earlier arrested in Jeti Anjung Batu, Serkam before he could take a boat to Pulau Besar on January 14. He was arrested under Section 41(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 in order for the police to investigate the allegations for holding medals and honorary titles conferment ceremony which are not recognized.
