The Sembrong Umno Division has adopted the stand that the post of Umno president and deputy president should remain uncontested in the party elections later this year, its chief Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said today.
Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin should be retained as president and deputy president, respectively, he said at the collective opening of the delegates' meetings of party branches and wings in the Sembrong division at the Kahang Timur Felda, here.
Umno will hold its Supreme Council elections on Oct 5, simultaneously with the divisional delegates meetings nationwide. The party's 2013 general assembly would be held over six days from Dec 2.
The national-level elections for the Wanita Umno, Umno Youth and Puteri Umno wings would be held on Sept 28.
Hishammuddin, who is an Umno vice-president, said seven of the 64 Umno branches in the Sembrong division had conducted their delegates' meeting.
So far, about 10 per cent of the Umno branches nationwide had conducted their delegates' meeting, he said.
