A 42-year-old man had pleaded guilty on the charge of sending obscene SMS and MMS to Nor Fadilah Binti Yusoff, 27.
Mohd Azlan bin Ibrahim was charged in the Sessions Court Crime (1) Johor Bahru on 7 December, 2014. Mohd Azlan pleaded guilty on the charge against him and was fined of RM3,000. He could also face one month imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine.
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) had conducted an investigation on the man who had sent obscene images of the male genitalia via SMS and MMS to a telephone number belonging to the victim, Nor Fadilah on 18 December, 2012.
Sending obscene images via mobile phones is an offense under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. If convicted, a fine not exceeding RM50,000 or imprisonment not exceeding one year, or both, may be imposed.
