A senior citizen died after being hit by a train near Taman Halaman Sentosa, here, on Monday.
In the 10.30am incident, Din Chik, 84, died on the spot due to severe injuries to his head and body injuries.
Ipoh police chief, ACP Sum Chang Keong, said the victim, from Kampung Seri Murni, Pasir Putih here, was trying to cross the tracks before being hurled to the side aftter he was hit by the speeding train which was on its way from Ipoh to Kuala Lumpur.
"Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad's (KTMB) auxilary police found the body lying beside the tracks. Further investigations are being carried out to identify the cause of the incident," he said when contacted here.
The body was taken to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for post-mortem.
It is understood that police found car keys, a cane and a white skullcap at the scene, believed to belong to the man.
