The Sessions Court here today sentenced a senior police officer to 100 years in prison and 15 strokes of the rotan after finding him guilty of raping and sodomising a teenage girl, three years ago.
Judge Ainul Shahrin Mohamad found DSP Rohaizat Abd Ani, 56, guilty on four counts of raping and one of sodomising the 13-year-old girl between Feb 2012 and May 2012.
The judge sentenced the accused to 20 years imprisonment for each of the first two charges and ordered the sentences to run simultaneously.
For the three other charges, the accused was sentenced to 20 years' jail each and the sentences were to run consecutively.
Rohaizat was found guilty of raping the teenager on four separate occasions which were Feb 1, 2012 between 4.30 pm and 5.30 pm in a room at Tang Dynasty Hotel; between 12.30 pm and 1.30 pm on Feb 2, 2012 in another room of the same hotel; and on May 1 and 6, 2012 at 8 am in a room at the same hotel; at 3 am between May 1 and 6, 2012 in a room at the same hotel.
He was also found guilty of sodomising the teenager between 4.30pm and 5.30pm on Feb 1, 2012 in a room at the same hotel.
The judge granted Rohaizat a stay of execution pending his appeal to the High Court and set bail at RM100,000 with one surety.
He was also ordered to surrender his passport to the court and report to Bukit Aman twice a month - every 1st and 15th of the month.
Rohaizat had previously served as Setiu police chief and was serving as Penang Federal Reserve Unit deputy chief, before he was charged in Aug 2013.
