Senior police officer on remand for alleged bribery of RM5,000

A senior police officer has been remanded for five days starting today for alleged bribery amounting to RM5,000.
The 43-year-old police officer was arrested in the parking area of Lot Market 88, Kepayan, near here yesterday, at about 10am.
The police officer was suspected of receiving the money from a complainant as an inducement to close a cheating case under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
Sabah MACC director Datuk Shaharom Nizam Abd Manap confirmed the arrest of the police officer concerned.
The case is investigated under Section 17 (a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Act 2009.
