Sept 16 rally organiser hands notice to police
ZAINOL: The organiser promised that the gathering would be peaceful, saying they would have teams to ensure the safety of the participants.
The organiser of the 'Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu' rally today submitted to the police a notice on the Sept 16 gathering at Padang Merbok.
A representative, Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin, handed in the notice under Section 9 (1) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012, said Dang Wangi Police chief ACP Zainol Samah.
He said the organiser would still have to wait for approval from Kuala Lumpur City Hall.
"We met the organiser at about 11am, represented by Datuk Megat Zulkarnain in his capacity as the secretary-general of the Malaysian National Silat Federation and representatives of several Malay NGOs, at the Dang Wangi Police headquarters.
"The organiser promised that the gathering would be peaceful, saying they would have teams to ensure the safety of the participants," he said in a statement.
