The Selangor state government will finance the costs to repair damages resulting from a landslide that struck Taman Idaman, Serendah on Saturday.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the Public Works Department (PWD) would carry out the repair works, estimated to cost up to RM5 million.
"The Selangor treasury is prepared with the allocation. Once the technical reports are completed, we want repair works to begin immediately so that residents can return home once the area is declared safe."
Azmin said this to reporters after visiting the landslide victims at Sekolah Rendah Agama Serendah temporary shelter today.
He said piling works have been completed but the PWD, Minerals and Geoscience Department, and Drainage and Irrigation Department are still investigating the source of water underground.
He added than an audit will be conducted on all 64 homes affected by the landslide to ensure the structures are safe.
During the visit, Azmin also handed out Selangor Zakat Centre assistance to displaced victims.
No casualties were reported in the early morning incident on Saturday besides motorcyclist Mohd Fareez Hanuddin, 21, who was injured.
He was reportedly buried underneath a pile of soil and rescued by some residents not too long later.
The Fire and Rescue Department was notified about the incident at 1.02am and arrived at the location about 16 minutes later.
