Seri Puteri Symphonic Winds recognised in Malaysia Book of Records
A sponsorship of RM400,000 for the orchestra was also presented from the Prime Minister's Department to Noorainee.
Sekolah Seri Puteri Cyberjaya's Orchestra on Friday get recognised in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) as the gold medal winner at the Australian International Music Festival at the Sydney Opera House last year.
The school's Seri Puteri Symphonic Winds (SP Winds), which is patroned by Deputy Prime Minister's wife, Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman, received the recognition from an MBR representative at the Symphonic Winds Charity Dinner held at the school on Friday night.
Also present was the Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker, Datuk Ismail Mohamed Said, who also presented a sponsorship of RM400,000 for the orchestra from the Prime Minister's Department to Noorainee.
The money will be used to cover the expenses of the group during the 'Summa Cum Laude International Music Festival in Vienna, Austria scheduled for July 4 to 9.
SP Winds is the first Malaysian group to perform at the music festival.
