Seven shops at Awan Besar RSA destroyed in fire

Seven shops at the Awan Besar RSA (westbound) along the Kesas Highway were destroyed in a fire today.

However, no casualties were reported.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Operations assistant director Azizan Ismail said the department received an emergency call at about 1.35pm and that firemen arrived at the location about nine minutes later.

"Thirty-two firemen in three fire engines from the Bukit Jalil, Seputih, Sungai Besi, Taman Tun Dr Ismail and Hang Tuah Fire and Rescue Stations were deployed.

"We took about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control," he told Bernama.

He said the cause of the fire and losses incurred were still being investigated.
