An accident in which a seven-year-old boy was killed after being knocked down by car while crossing the road in Jalan Rancha-Rancha here on Tuesday, has drawn much attention on social media after his body was found lying by the road side.
Based on police investigations, the boy was playing with a motorcycle tyre and rolling it while crossing the road when the incident took place at about 1.55pm.
"The boy was struck by a Toyota Avanza driven by a 21-year-old student who was about to return to Universiti Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus. The boy was seriously injured and was pronounced dead at 12.10 this morning," Labuan police chief Supt Adzhar Othman told Bernama.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1087. -- BERNAMA
