Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar on Saturday confirmed the discovery of several more graves in the border area between Perlis and Thailand.
He said the graves were "part of the original graves discovered earlier."
He said this to Bernama via a 'WhatsApp' message on the claim that several more graves of victims of human trafficking of the Rohingya ethnic group from Myanmar were found at Bukit Wang Burma, Wang Kelian, Perlis.
Meanwhile in Alor Setar, a source from the national security forces confirmed that the graves were located near the ones found by the police in May.
"They are old graves, but recently discovered by the country's security forces. They are located not far from the graves that we found last May," he told Bernama.
Another source said the new graves were located higher than the graves discovered in May at Bukit Wang Burma.
The source also refused to confirm the claim that the bodies retrieved from the new graves had been sent to Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah (HSB) on Saturday night for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, hospital staff refused to give a statement on the presence of two police trucks at the hospital morgue at about 9.30pm.
The police trucks were believed to have carried several plastic bags containing body parts dug out from the new graves.
In May, the security forces had found several graves of human trafficking victims at Bukit Wang Burma.
The Kedah Islamic religious derpartment with assistance from the National Security Council had buried 99 of the bodies found at the Kampung Tualang Muslim Cemetery, Pokok Sena recently.
