Continuous rain since 2pm today has caused several areas in Kota Kinabalu and Penampang to get flooded.
According to information from the Sabah Fire and Rescue Operations Centre, several areas in Penampang around Minintod, Bantayan, Bulatan Nanas, and Kolopis were inundated, while small landslides occurred in the Kasigui area.
The centre's spokesman said the situation was still under control and several roads in the area were still accessible.
"The fire and rescue department is currently in the midst of gathering information about the areas that are flooded," he said.
Meanwhile, Malaysian Civil Defence Department (JPAM) Sabah public relations officer Abd Razaq Basir said the Telipok area was also flooded.
He said Sabah JPAM's rescue teams were also monitoring the situation in and around Kota Kinabalu and Penampang, including the landslide incidents.
In Tuaran, its district officer Abdul Mohd Ibnu Abdul Kadir Baba said several roads which were flooded in the area were now accessible to vehicles.
According to the weather forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, the west coast of Sabah would experience thunderstorms in some places in the evening, while one or two places would have rain at night.
