Severe soil erosion sweeps surau and nursery into river in Betong

A surau and a nursery at SK Kampung Buda near Spaoh in Betong, here were swept away into a nearby river after the ground beneath them collapsed due to severe soil erosion early Monday.
In the 4am incident, the surau and nursery were believed to have been washed away by the strong current of Sungai Batang Saribas, according to preliminary findings by Betong Fire and Rescue Department.
The department in a statement Monday said, it received a distress call at 4.05am today.
Eight personnel were dispatched to the scene soon after it received the call. It took them approximately an hour to reach the location due to its remote location.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
