Sex bloggers' Facebook page taken down after posting controversial photo
Due to the controversial Selamat Berbuka Puasa greeting by sex bloggers Alvin Tan Jye Yee, 25 and Vivian Lee, 24, their joint Facebook account has been taken down.
Posted few days ago, the picture gained criticisms from individuals as well as government bodies who have threatened to report the couple’s account.
The picture depicted them eating bak kut teh which is a tradisional pork dish and describing it as ‘wangi, enak, menyelerakan’ (fragrant, delicious, appetising).
Malaysia’s Communication’s and Multimedia Comission (SKMM) has said that they are investigating the case.
Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Datuk Jailani Johari, says that the couple will be called upon to make a statement regarding this controversial case.
Minister in the Prime Ministers office, Joseph Kurup also has commented on the case saying that the couple does not have any respect for other races and religions and that their post may cause controversy between races in the country.
In a recent article by The Star, Tan confirmed that they posted the greeting for “no reason. Just a joke, I guess”.
“Yeah, in a way. I don't know. I was just curious to see how people will perceive it. It seems not everybody is on the same page as us. It is dark humour. It is just our attempt to see how it will be perceived. It is just trying to be humorous on the matter,” he said in a phone interview with The Star Online.
To him, the unfavourable response shows that “people don’t see the humour, people are mostly angry and upset”.
No strangers to the limelight, the couple known as Alvivi, is famous for their sexcapades video blog that went viral last October.
