Sexual abuse case at religious school: Police still completing investigation papers

Perak Police are completing the probe papers of the sexual assault (sodomy) claim at celebrity preacher, Datuk Mohd Kazim Elias’ religious school, Maahad Tahfiz Darul Barakah in Manjoi here.

State Crime Investigation chief, Datuk Gan Tian Kee said the police has been instructed by the Attorney-General Department to conduct a comprehensive probe into the case which had allegedly occurred last Aug.

He said, several witnesses had been summoned to record their statements.

“The investigation papers are almost ready and the police will pass them to the AG Department for further action,” said Gan to reporters here today.

He said this after witnessing the Receiving of New Duties ceremony at the Central Perak headquarters here today.

On Dec 28, the A-G Deparment has instructed Perak police to re-investigate the sexual misconduct claim at the school.

The AG Department in a statement said that the department has issued an instruction to the Perak Prosecution Unit which is waiting for the next investigation before deciding if prosecution should take place.
