Shafie Apdal denies having links with Sabah corruption scandal
After commenting on the corruption scandal in a statement yesterday, Shafie today told reporters he and his former ministry had no links in the issue.
Former rural and regional development minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal denied that he and his former ministry had any links with alleged corruption involving a government department in Sabah in the awarding of infrastructure projects worth RM3.3 billion.
Shafie, who is Semporna MP, said he also did not know the two senior officials of the department who were detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in connection with the alleged corruption.
Last Tuesday, the MACC detained the director and deputy director of the Sabah Water Department and seized RM114.5 million from them following the allegation.
"I support the investigation being conducted by the MACC. I hope there is no speculation on the case as the investigation is still on-going and I am prepared to cooperate with the MACC," he told a press conference, here, today. -- Bernama
