Shafie Apdal will be called up if needed - MACC chief

Former Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal will only be called up to give a statement on purchase of real estate in Australia by Mara Incorporated Sdn Bhd (Mara Inc) if needed, said Malaysian Anti- Corruption Commission Chief Commissioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad.
He said that in carrying out probes, the MACC could call up anyone for questioning.
"If we need to question him we ill, if not, no," he told reporters after witnessing the "Corruption Free" pledge ceremony led by Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and nine state executive councillors at the Menteri Besar''s office here today.
Prior to this, Shafie had stated that he was willing to be investigated over the matter.
Yesterday, MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations) Datuk Azam Baki had said that 24 individuals would be called up to assist the probe.
