Shaharuddin murder: Another suspect arrested
The police arrested another suspect, a 37-year-old vehicle spare parts importer, to help investigate on the murder of Customs Deputy Director-General Datuk Shaharuddin Ibrahim.
Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah said the suspect was arrested at Kuala Lumpur.
“The suspect is from Kedah and was arrested at 2 p.m yesterday,” said Ku during a press conference earlier today.
He also said that police now have several positive leads in solving the case.
Few days ago, a 56 year-old man was also held to facilitate the murder investigation. The man was arrested in Petaling Jaya at 8.30am on April 11.
On April, 26, Shaharuddin, the third highest ranked officer in Customs, was believed to be followed by two suspects on motorcycle at about 8.40am at Lebuh Wawasan coming from Dengkil.
It is understood that Shaharuddin had left his house in Intan Condo, Dengkil at about 8am and was heading to his office in Putrajaya in a Nissan Murano. He was sitting at the front seat beside the driver.
The suspects then shot at him three times, with at least one shot piercing his neck.
Shaharuddin, 58, from Negeri Sembilan, has been working for the department for more than 30 years.
