Siblings killed in Kuantan crash

Two siblings were killed and seven others were hurt after two vehicles collided at Jalan Kuantan-Bypass here, Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as multi purpose vehicle (MPV) passenger, Mat Sharif Sulaiman, 37, and his sister, Nur Mulaikhartini, 26, from Kelantan.

The injured were the MPV driver, Ahmad Faizal Abu Bakar, 25, (Nur Mulaikhartini's husband), their son, Ahmad Farish Muzzafar, three, the MPV passengers, Mohd Samsuri Sulaiman, 34, Siti Ramlah Sulaiman, 38, and Adam Hariz Mohd Norizan, three.

Car driver, Dzulkifli Yaacob, 52, and daughter, Nur Syahirah, 21, of Kampung Baru, Bentong, were also hurt.

Kuantan police chief, ACP Abdul Aziz Salleh said the mishap took place at 1.20am when the MPV went out of control after hitting a pool of water while heading to Gambang from Kuantan harbour.

"It climbed onto central divider and entered the opposing lane before colliding with the car coming from the opposite direction," he told Bernama.

The injured were sent to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Afzan (HTAA) for treatment while the bodies were also sent to HTAA for post-mortem, he added.
