Sibu Airport had cancelled a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) issued earlier and resumed its operations at midnight last night.
Airport manager Zainuddin Abu Nasir said his side had faxed the cancellation letter to Kuching NOTAM office last night.
He said the appointed contractor had managed to remove MH2718 with a special plane removal kit at 7pm yesterday.
"MH2718 is currently located at Bay 1 of the terminal building. We had closed the big hole beside the grass strip and cleaned the dirt on the runway," he said in a message via WhatsApp.
Forty-eight scheduled arrival and departure flights at Sibu Airport were cancelled yesterday following the closure of the airport runway.
Out of the total cancelled flights, 28 flights were MASwings, 16 AirAsia and four Malaysia Airlines Berhad flights to and from Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Bintulu, Miri and Kuching with 3,787 passengers affected by the cancellations.
In the 10.17pm incident last Saturday, the Malaysia Airlines aircraft from Kuala Lumpur, carrying 69 passengers and crew, skidded during a heavy downpour.
None on board was injured but shaken by the incident.
