On July 11, 2015, the nation mourned yet again.
The fateful day marked the first anniversary of the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 over Donetsk, Ukraine on July 17, last year.
To mark the tragedy, a memorial service was held at Bunga Raya Complex, Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang, Saturday.
Attended by an approximate 1,000 guests, the event witnessed the gathering of next of kin and relatives of the tragedy’s victims.
Flight MH17 was en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur when it was shot down over Ukraine, killing all 298 passengers and crew on board, including 43 Malaysians.
With the Investigation Team (JIT) comprising the Netherlands as coordinator, Australia, Belgium, Malaysia and Ukraine scrutinising and investigating all possible scenarios in detail, families of those killed demanded justice at an emotional memorial ceremony ahead of the first anniversary of the disaster on July 17.
