Sirul left the country legally - Home Ministry

Ex-police commando, Sirul Azhar Umar was allowed to leave the country because he was not listed on the suspicion list of the Immigration Department, says Ministry of Home Affairs.
The ministry said, the former member of the Special Action Unit who was sentenced to death for the murder of Mongolian woman Altantuya Shaariibuu has been allowed by the court to leave the country.
"Therefore, in accordance with the provisions of the Immigration Act and Regulations 1959/63, the Immigration Department will not prevent a person from leaving or entering the country if the individual’s name is not listed in the suspicious list of the department,” said the Ministry in a written reply in Parliament.
According to the statement, those with valid travel documents, approved visas, sufficient money, return flight tickets and do not have any infectious disease will not be prevented from entering or leaving the country.
Batu Kawan MP, Kasthuriraani Patto asked about how Sirul can the police, Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration sanctions.
Sirul, was sentenced to death after being found guilty of murdering Altantuya and is currently in Sydney Immigration detention centre, following his arrest in Queensland on January 20 after a red alert was issued by Interpol.
