Insurance company employee Fatin Najihah Parlan regrets that her older brother Hasni Hardi Parlan would not be at her wedding next year following his death in the MH17 tragedy.
The 28-year-old who works in Malacca, said her marriage to her beau Mohd Idham Amzirin from Johor Baharu would, however, be held on a very modest scale as the family would still be mourning over her late brother, whom she was very close to.
"We will go on with the wedding plan but with a tahlil included for my late brother," she said while pointing towards the many visitors at the family home who came to pay their last respects, here, Friday.
Asked when she last met her beloved brother, a cargo engineer, Fatin Najihah said it was three months ago before he left for Amsterdam.
According to her, her brother did not say much but told her to wait for his return for Raya and repeated this through a phone call to her and their mother Asiah Rajikon before boarding flight MH17.
Hasni's remains, accompanied by his mother and father Parlan Masiran, arrived at the family home in Taman Sri Alam 2 here at 2.15pm with the funeral prayers completed 45 minutes later.
He was then laid to rest at the Paya Besar Muslim cemetery, Batu 8, Batu Anam at 3.30pm.
The Segamat-Batu Anam road was congested for about two kilometres with the vehicles of VIPs and members of the police force and army who came for the funeral.
Among the VIPs who paid Hasni their last respects were Health Minister and Segamat MP Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam and Johor state assembly Speaker Datuk Mohamad Aziz.
